FOOD research school is multidisciplinary and gathers in LMC the PhD education within the food environments at DTU, Aarhus University and Faculty of Life Sciences, University of Copenhagen. Danish food science is internationally seen as very strong and research groups within LMC have been assessed as world class.
FOOD gathers more than 130 PhD students from elleven departments at Faculty of Life Sciences (University of Copenhagen), DTU and University of Aarhus, the Technological Institute (DTI), and major food and food ingredient firms.
FOOD is centered around the following five science fields:
- Food Characteristics and Advanced Analyses
- Food Microbiology: Safety and Functionality
- New Technologies
- Nutrition and Health
- Food, Market and Society
One of FOOD's objectives is to give the PhD students a research education of high international standard with focus on the quality of the PhD study, on the PhD students' personal and professional development by way of international guest teachers, on the correlation between the public and industrial research environments as well as on initiation of attractive workshops, courses, seminars and summer school.
All PhD students working within food science, technology and human nutrition should be a member of FOOD. This gives a unique possibility for networking.
